Algonquin Welding Shop Building āSā
RoJo Construction has built a relationship with Algonquin College completing several renovations as a part of their campus upgrades. This project was a ground up addition to the welding shop. The addition took space from the parking lot, requiring the relocation of some site services. The new structure required structural modifications to the footings, grade beams, structural steel and a roof deck system. This new space was incorporated into the existing one by creating a pass through into the existing exterior wall. The state-of-the-art teaching welding facility houses 24 welding booths complete with a sophisticated exhaust and air filtering system that cleans the air from the welding use. Due to the use of the facility there is unique sprinkler and fire alarm systems, as well as fuel storage rooms with detailing to allow explosions without damage to people and the building. This project required a new electrical service to be installed through the existing parking lot as well as constructing the new building on top of the existing fiber optic service passing through the footprint. Every step of this construction had to be considered carefully and executed with care.
